Minute Man Cleaners - Celebrating 25 Years of Quality & Service
In 1920 Ignatz Rosenzweig came to America from Europe. A fine woman’s tailor like his father, he had little trouble finding work in Brooklyn, N.Y. He and his wife Ester (a dressmaker) opened their first tailor shop and dry cleaning store in 1922.
Ernest Fried arrived in this country in 1939. Through his Aunt he met the Rosenzweigs, worked for them and married their daughter Vera.
After WWII Ernest attended the New York School of Dry Cleaning and opened Five Town Cleaners in Woodmere, N.Y. Another store, Orchid Cleaners, was opened in Massapequa, N.Y. in 1955. Minute Man Cleaners, also in Massapequa, was purchased in 1971.
Ernest’s son, Bob, grew up working in the family business and after a short career as a junior sportswear buyer he also attended the New York School of Dry Cleaning. He then moved to Arizona in 1984 and has been serving the East Valley’s dry cleaning needs ever since. Carriage Cleaners was renamed Minute Man Cleaners in 1998 after ten years of operation. It served the local community in Mesa as well as Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, and Ahwatukee Foothills with pick up and delivery to homes and offices.
In 2006 Bob chose to close his retail location and offer high quality dry cleaning strictly through his pick up & delivery service. 2011 represents the twenty third year of this service.
Bob retired as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Western States Dry Cleaners and Launderers Association in 1997, having received special recognition for over ten years of service, and is a lifetime member.
Family and tradition have always meant a lot to Bob and his wife Cindy. That is why he is proud to say he has offered
As a full service dry cleaner we offer services that you may not find at other dry cleaners. We offer benefits that make your clothes look better, last longer, and enhance your appearance:
We offer a full menu of alterations s well as repairs. Some minor repairs are done at no charge.
The process itself: As dry cleaning professionals we are trained to keep our solvent clean, with the proper amount of soap & sizing for cleaner garments with the right amount of body. Cleaning clothes in dirty solvent is like taking a bath in dirty water, or worse. Somebody else’s dirty water!!
From the latest fashions, the newest fabrics, and the most advanced equipment full service dry cleaners stay abreast of the latest technologies.
An owner of a “discount” cleaner once asked why we gave hand irons to our presser. “It only slows them down”, he added. It’s because we want every garment to look like its been hand finished. From suit jacket linings to pleated skirts, our hand irons get a lot of use.
Before a garment gets delivered it’s inspected by a minimum of three people. Our “spotter” inspects clothes as they come out of the cleaning machine, presser inspect them as they are being finished, and our inspectors/baggers look them over one more time.
Just as we inspect for spots and wrinkles, we make certain that your garments smell fresh. It has to do with the constant purification of the solvent. There is no need to air out garments before you wear them.
We use complex procedures and special stain removal chemicals to remove stains. Water soluble and solvent soluble stains are removed with the utmost care. We stop stain removal when we feel we can damage your garment, then we let you decide if we should try harder.
On occaision, when solvent cannot remove certain stains, we use water to remove them.Using a very controlled environment, we “wetclean” your garments. This is done in conjunction with the dry cleaning, but doesn’t cost you any more.
